6 Months in
It's been ages since I've written. For the most part I've been really good. Living on the warrior diet when I can (live, uncooked veg and juice during the day and eating a bigger meal at night). I was going really well with my work outs for ages, noticing big differences in my cardio and the way I looked. The last month has be HORRIBLE. I've been going through A LOT of bullshit which has put me into a bit of a depression. All i want to do is sleep and eat crap. Pulling myself out of this one is going to be difficult but next pay Im starting the warrior diet again and once I feel healithier Ill have the drive to work out again. I will be running my 5 k in the next 2 months. No excuses.

How to get skinny Dec2 2010-Feb 2 2011 My new years resolution.
Dec 5, 2010
My name is Laur. I’m 24 and 238 days. I’m not a writer. I’m not a nutritionist or a dietician. As a matter of fact, I don’t have a degree or diploma of any kind (yet). I am however a self destructive EXREME DIETER. I obsess about my weight, even though I am not, nor ever have been clinically over weight. In my mind, the skinnier I am the better.
I have tried it all. The 21 day Holistic detox, which is FANTASTIC until the 21 days are up and it becomes time to retox. On the 22nd day a celebration of my success is obviously in order. The body I have so caringly cleaned out is stuffed with everything that damaged it in the first place. Wine! Spirits! Nachos! CHEESE!!! COFFEE!!!!SUGAR!!!! AND MORE CHEESE! My lovely detoxed 22 inch waist and ideally thin figure quickly turns back into, what I would see as, an unsightly chunky blob.
I have tried fruit diets, soup diets, no dairy diets and completely vegan diets.
At my body’s expense I have also tried at 900 calorie a day diet. Three times a day I would have a scoop of tasty chai flavoured vegan supplement blended with half a banana, topped soy milk and water. Afterwards I would engage in cardio work out until I was dizzy and seeing little black spots. I would go to bed hungry.
My poor body had no idea what hit it. I guess you can say along with my anxiety and grief about my body comes a very unhealthy idea of what beauty is.
My plan is to take next 365 days to make one small, manageable change every few weeks. These changes will include everything from diet, exercise, as well as slowly changing my negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
By the end of the 365 I will no longer be putting toxic food into my body (coffee or caffeine of any kind, sugar, dairy, alcohol, processed food, fried food or preservatives), I will be able to run 5km and I will do yoga 3-5 times a week (most weeks) and most importantly, I will learn to love myself.
Crash extreme diets have never worked for me in the past. I’m ready for a complete life style over haul.

COFFEE!
I arrived to work early today by accident (again). I’m never late, like, EVER.
Being early is the perfect excuse to grab my favourite addicting treat. The SOY MOCHA LATTE! Chocolate mixed with espresso mixed with creamy soy milk. Oh how it does the glorious trick.
As I’m sitting here in the Glory Jeans at Melbourne central I take carful notice to the way my body is reacting to the coffee. My hands are shaking. My heart is racing. I’m anxious and oh ya, did you know that coffee is a diuretic? I HAVE TO POO!!!
I realize that caffeine is the first addicting substance that I need to cut out of my everyday diet because it makes me feel horrible. Anything that gives my body THAT reaction can’t possibly be good for me.
Dec 9, 2010
Weening myself off of caffeine has proven difficult. I’ve been tired, head achy and moodier than usual. The actually act of getting my morning coffee has been hard to give up as well. I liked that routine.
Dec 14, 2010
EXCERSISE
As part of the 365 day challenge I have to adapt exercise into my everyday routine, making it a habit. Today I went for a run. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great either. My cardio needs some serious work.
I also did my yoga DVD. I started with “yoga relax” and then did “yoga lean legs” which run for a total of 20 minutes.
COFFEE
I’m still going okay without coffee or black tea. At times I feel irritable and really want one, but I’ve been good a resisting. Giving up an addiction is so empowering. I used to cringe when I would think about giving up all of the things that are bad for me (because they taste so good) but once you start one thing and succeed, it makes you want to keep going (remembering of course that if you do decide to have a coffee once in a while..ITS OK..as long as you don’t rely on it to keep you awake).
Dec 16, 2010
COFFEE
Bloody hell!!!!! I’ve started my last several mornings with coffee again. I was doing so well. My sleeping has been horrible so I wake up exhausted and have to work all day. Excuses excuses! I am NOT going to beat myself up for it though. It’s done, it happened and all I can do is try harder to not drink it. Back to green tea as of RIGHT NOW!
WEIGHT
For the last several weeks I have been weighing in at 118 pounds. Not to bad.
THE DEVIL-SUGAR!
My next major hurdle is cutting out refined sugar. Why? Sugar has literally no nutritional value, Your body doesn’t know what to do with it, so it stores it as fat. It is especially known for causing cellulite. It can cause depression and mood swings.
I’ve started small. I switched my soy milk, which has sugar to make it tasty, to ‘so natural’ rice milk which doesn’t have sugar, preservatives, gluten, lactose or any artificial colours or flavours. It isn’t as heavy as soy milk either. I prefer it actually.
Let’s be honest, sugar will be the hardest thing ever to give up. That shit is in EVERYTHING that tastes amazing.

YOGA
Yoga is my favourite thing. It’s invigorating and relaxing. It makes me feel powerful and strong. I’ve already started noticing tone in my legs, stomach and arms. I find it a struggle to bring myself to do it, but once I actually do I’m so much happier and vibrant.
THOSE CHUNKY BITS
I admit it. I have cellulite and I fucking hate it. I curse every girl who has god given smooth legs. I am DETERMIND to get rid of it. Diet is obviously a key factor with sugar, coffee, alcohol and preservatives being the main trouble makers. Although diet soda doesn’t have calories or sugar it is full of a ‘should have never been FDA approved’ chemical call aspartame. Not only does it cause cancer but it preserves those nasty fat cells, making them harder to shift. Gross.
From what I’ve read in ‘Joshi’s life plan’ (Joshi is brilliant..His books changed my life)’ Dry skin brushing is a good way to start shifting the chunk. Taking a dry body brush, vigorously brush your skin working toward your heart. This increases the circulation at the surface of your skin, thus helping to beat cellulite.
GREEN TEA ICED TEA
2 green tea bags boiled in water for 10 minutes. Honey to taste. Put in the fridge until cold. Add ice and a squeeze of lemon. VOILA! I super tasty and healthy summer drink. I’m a genius.
Dec 29, 2010
Christmas KILLED me. I ate so much crap and exercised so little. I’m re addicted to coffee and sugar. I’m feeling exhausted, irritable and sluggish. Time to get back on track.
THE TRUTH ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS
OK-put away your Atkins book. Forget about the lemon juice (starvation) cleanse. Skip the no carb, grapefruit juice only bullshit diets because, guess what? THEY ARE ALL FADS. Fad diets might work for a quick fix but as soon as you break that extreme diet you are guaranteed to gain it all back twice as fast. What you have lost is water weight and muscle mass and your body needs muscle to burn fat.
Here is the secret you have been waiting for- THERE IS SO SECRET. Simply take a look at what you’ve been eating. Fast food? Chocolates, cakes, bikkies? Shit loads of alcohol? Soft drink (yes even diet soda)? Dairy?
Are you filling up on fruit, veggies and complex carbs?
Here’s a hint. Stop eating that crap that made your ass fat in the first place. If you are sitting on the couch munching on a bag of Doritos’s and still complaining about your weight-STOP BEING SO LAZY. The sooner you come to this realization the better off you will be.
Lazy junk eating slob = FAT ASS.
DUH!
There is no such thing as a quick permanent fix, you have to change your attitude and work toward being a healthy person, not a skinny person. Once you take care of and love your body through diet and exercise the weight loss will follow.
I PROMISE.
January 5, 2011
Well, it’s been exactly a month since I’ve started this challenge. I cut out coffee, but started drinking it again. Slowly began making changes toward cutting out sugar. Starting with the most obvious culprits... CHOCOLATE, SOFT DRINK and CANDY(I can worry about the more complicated things like simple carbs, certain fruit and whatnot later..I need to do more reading before I can make a judgement on what to cut out next).
I’ve started feel less guilty when I eat. I remind myself that I NEED to eat in order for my body to function properly. I’ve started focusing on being healthy instead of skinny and stopped hating myself when I do have an occasional slip up.
I no longer drink alcohol. I’m not saying that an occasional drink(s) isn’t OK, but for me personally its best not drink at all. My body reacts both emotionally and physically bad to ANY alcoholic substance so I’ve stopped fighting and just gave my body what it wanted.
It is so important to take the time to listen to what your body is telling you.

I LOVE ANIMALS
I’m a strict vegetarian and have been for the last 5 or so years. I choose not to eat meat because I don’t believe in factory farming and the horrifying cruelty that comes along with it. Factory farms are exactly what they sound like, production lines who’s main purpose is profit. The animals are often kept in dark bacteria ridden barns, stuffed in to cages too small to move in and are treated like a product instead of what they are-living, breathing, thinking, feeling and very alive.

My always sore stomach
Since I can remember I have had problems with my stomach, oesophagus and intestines.
It started when I was 6 years old, being so long ago it’s hard to remember specifics but there was something wrong with the way my oesophagus which made it really difficult for me to swallow food. It always felt like I was about to choke. It would put me into such a state of panic that I would chew my food and excuse myself from the table so I could spit it in the toilet without anyone noticing (of course they always did). I remember having anxiety attacks when it came time to eat, especially at school or at friends’ houses. I think I went about 2 weeks without actually swallowing any food.
I actually suffered from a lot of anxiety at that age. I always thought I was dying, specifically from heart attacks because my heart rate would speed up when I felt anxious. My dad would check my pulse and assure me that I not having a heart attack.
When I was 20 I began getting stabbing pains in my intestines self diagnosing myself with intestinal cancer (it wasn’t). To avoid the pain of a blood test I decided to figure out what was wrong with me by cutting out certain foods I was eating. After several months of unnecessarily suffering I figured it out to be GLUTEN and WHEAT. Yep. I very soon realized that gluten is in everything delicious and anything gluten free is going to cost at two times more than non gluten free products. You pay $4 for a NICE loaf of healthy bread...I pay $8 for a brick of sliced sponge. Feel sorry for us gluten intolerant folk. We truly have it hard.
For the last several months I have been vomiting a random, feeling very suddenly sick then fine again after I’ve hurled. After a while Paul forced me to go to the doctor. I have ACID REFLUX. It’s so annoying. I rarely feel 100%. My stomach often feels like its boiling into my throat and sometimes even water can make me vomit.
The goal is to figure out which foods makes me feel acidic.
Feb 2, 2011
I was pretty horrible with my diet and exercise last month BUT I will never give up...as hard and daunting as it all seems.
It has been almost 2 week since I have had coffee (I’ve had a few cups of tea), cheese (except goats cheese) or sweets (chocolate, ice cream, cake..).
Not bad .

Jerry Sienfeld, coffins and the possiblity that I watch WAY to much television.
I had a dream.
There was a coffin. It was six feet under ground, but had yet to be covered by the pile of dirt that heaped a foot away from the opening. My "friends" (who oddly enough were the characters from Sienfled-->(could this be a sign that I watch too much mindless television?)) would help me into the coffin, then close it while I'm still inside. I lay there, calm and unphased, thinking about things unrealted to death. I knock. The coffin opens and I see Jerry, Elaine and Craimer (George was MIA) all looking down at me. They help me out, but i just get back in a moment later. This happens several times.
The last a final time they help me into the coffin, I knock...but no one comes. I panic and everything goes black. Then I wake up.
